Winter is the perfect season to embrace all things cozy. Over the years, I’ve found a few tips and tricks to ensure I can dress up (or down) while staying comfy. Below I share four of my go-tos.
Choose materials that feel luxurious against your skin and have a “uniform” to make daily dressing easy. I always start with my uniform (TDJ 2in1 fitted top and capri leggings) and then add fun layers as shown above:

🎀 thrifted crinoline skirt with pink boots
👢 thrifted satin dress with leopard-print boots
👗 tulle dress with a cropped blazer for work with black bootsFurther embrace the art of layering by donning a blazer, a chunky sweater, a long cardigan, or a statement coat (love me some leopard-print) to create an ensemble that feels like a cocoon.
Opt for timeless winter footwear, like ankle boots or knee-high boots, to complete the look. I like to keep slippers under my desk to get comfy at any time and have a pair of dressier shoes at the ready in case I need to get fancy.
Complete the look with accessories such as a knit beanie, gloves, arm warmers, or a fluffy scarf.
Midlife is the perfect time to let your inner artist out to play through showcasing your signature style. Here’s to the beautiful balance of comfort, cozy, chic, AND ease despite winter’s frigid temps!
Layering is a bit different in Arizona... you are mostly adding layers when you go inside to battle the frigid air conditioning in institutional buildings. I did sort of chuckle about the timeless winter footwear since my timeless year around footwear is black sandals. I'm loving your substack posts and the design is gorgeous!
You always look so great! I'm hoping to hit up a bunch of vintage shops while in Paris :)
